Cherokee Indian Hospital Foundation, Authentically Cherokee partner to bring Artist’s Market to Annual Gala

The Cherokee Indian Hospital Foundation (CIHF) is excited to announce a new partnership with Authentically Cherokee, a program of the Sequoyah Fund, to bring an Artist’s Market to the 12th Annual Hospital Foundation Gala. The partnership will showcase more than a dozen talented artists from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, featuring a range of art mediums and styles.

The CIHF has been committed to promoting and celebrating the rich history and culture of the Cherokee People since hosting the first Gala in 2010, which was proclaimed the Heritage Gala. The partnership with Authentically Cherokee will bring a new dimension to the annual celebration, offering guests the opportunity to purchase beautifully crafted treasures from local artists.

“We are thrilled to partner with Authentically Cherokee and bring this new element to the Gala,” said Maggie Jackson, Vice-Chair of the Cherokee Indian Hospital Foundation and member of the Sequoyah Fund Board. “The Artist’s Market will not only provide a unique shopping experience for our guests but will also showcase the incredible talents of local Cherokee artists.”

Authentically Cherokee is a program of the Sequoyah Fund, which is dedicated to strengthening Cherokee communities through small business development and economic growth. The mission of Authentically Cherokee celebrates artists of the Qualla Boundary in North Carolina who work to preserve Cherokee culture in a contemporary way. The Artist’s Market at the Gala will feature artists who have been supported by Authentically Cherokee, helping to promote and sustain the local arts community.

“We are excited to partner with the Cherokee Indian Hospital Foundation to showcase the talent and creativity of our local artists,” said Hope Huskey of Authentically Cherokee. “We believe that the Artist’s Market will provide a valuable opportunity for these artists to share their work and connect with a broader audience.”

The annual Gala is a significant fundraiser for the Cherokee Indian Hospital Foundation, supporting critical healthcare programs and services for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. The 2023 Gala will be held on July 15 at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort.
